DVD of Spring Concert Available
There will be a band booster meeting on
Tuesday, September 12, at 5:00 p.m. in the band room. Please plan
to attend. We need your help!

The special 2 hour workshops for beginning students were a big success.
We were fortunate to have clinicians from GSC in attendance, and they gave
the attendees some special attention. Students frequently enjoyed one-on-one
private lessons, at no cost to them. Thanks to all the students who
participated, and to the GSC clinicians for your hard work. We saw
a lot of improvement this summer, thanks to your efforts!

Band Camp this summer is Monday August 7 through Wednesday
August 9th from 9 to 12, and Monday August 14 through Friday
August 18 from 9 to 5. Our students
will get their chops back in shape, learn music for marching
season, and review marching techniques. Please plan to attend
if you wish to march in the halftime show this fall. Check the
photo page for some pictures of band camp!

Early in the 2006-2007 school year we will
take out a full page ad in the Football Program demonstrating the great
support we enjoy from our community. It will cost $1 for each person
who wants to have their name listed as a supporter. Business can show
their support for $5. This is a great cause, so when you are approached
by a band student, be sure to purchase your own special spot in the Ad.

chaperones, errand runners, officers, and general all-around support. If

We have a new discussion forum! It's an online bulletin board where you can
ask questions, share information and ideas, and tell bad jokes. Click the
Forum link at the top of the web page. When you get there, register
and start participating. The more the merrier!

GCHS Band members recently enjoyed a trip to Huntington to see
the Drum Corps International "Drums Across the Tri-State"
competition. The competing groups all had artistic shows,
excellent marching skills, and an unbelievable sound. Be sure to
ask Monica, Tiffany, or Trenton about it, and plan to join us on
our next road trip.

A DVD of the 2006 Spring Concert is still available at no charge. This DVD
was made on a PC so will not play on all DVD players. See Mr. Lopez
for a copy. If it won't play on your DVD player it should play on your
computer. If you can't use it please return to Mr. Lopez for someone
else to enjoy. If it works, keep it! We can make more.
