GCHS Titan Band Booster Meeting
June 5, 2007
The meeting was call to
order at 5:35 p.m. by President Leslie Ward. Those present were John
Lopez, Anita Metz, Amy Shreves, Olivia Shreves, Carolyn Greenlief,
Casey Pritt, and Leslie Ward.
The minutes from the previous
meeting were approved with a motion to approve by Anita Metz and
seconded by Amy Shreeves. The motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report
Checking account balance is $2528.38.
We had been quoted a price for our deposit slips which turned out to be incorrect. We were sent an invoice for the remaining balance due plus a late fee. Anita Metz has paid the balance due and gotten the supplier to waive the late fees because we paid the price they quoted us and the tardiness was due to their error, not ours.
Fund Raisers
Prime Time Advertising - we selected sports bottles for the fall, then blankets and rally towels. Registered letter has been signed and returned to Prime Time.
It was decided that we will not participate in the Folk Festival this year due to a lack of people with food handlers cards.
Old Business
Thank you card to McDonald's has been mailed.
The purchase of capes and sashes has been delayed until after we have paid for uniform cleaning and band camp.
The 50/50 at the spring concert yielded $33.00 plus we got $75.00 in donations.
Anita Metz is in
the process of applying for our tax exemption number.
New Business
Fund Raisers put on hold until band camp has been dealt with.
We will meet July 3rd, time to be determined based on Anita's work schedule.
Band Camp - see announcements.
Mr. Lopez is working with Shirley Hupp on the possibility of setting up an activities bus so that students can attend band camp and after school extra-curricular activities and not worry about transportation. Other counties use levy monies or grants to fund activities busses.
We will run another ad page fund raiser during band camp. We will take out a full page ad in the newspaper. Ads will be $2 per person and $5 per business.
Car Wash and Bake Sale was discussed. The 18th of August is a good date. Leslie Ward to check with Foodland to see if we can do it that day.
Tag Day in the fall. The band sells 2x2 heavy paper "tags" for a donation. Once you have a tag displayed in your car, you don't get harassed for more donations :) Kids would work in three shifts. We would need to contact local businesses to see if they will let us sell tags in their parking lots. We need to ask City Hall if we need a license or other approval. The weekend of GCS homecoming would be a good time.
Letter system was discussed so that students could earn letters for a letter jacket. One possible way to earn letters is a merit system, where merits are earned for loading crew, participating in car washes and other fund raisers, etc., and demerits are given for tardiness, unkempt uniform, etc.
