GCHS Titan Band Booster Meeting March 6, 2007 The meeting was call to order at 5:35 p.m. by President Leslie Ward. Those present were John Lopez, Anita Metz, Trisha Metz, Carolyn Greenlief, Casey Pritt, Olivia Shreves, Amy Shreves, and Leslie Ward. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved with a motion to approve by Anita Metz with the additional note that Carolyn Greenlief was in attandance last week. Motion seconded by John Lopez and carried. Treasurer’s Report Checking account balance is $1450.64 Savings account balance is $697.20 Fund Raisers The Pizza Hut check has been mailed and we should receive it shortly. Prime Time Advertising – Leslie Ward to get a list of items we could sell. Strawberries will be sold by the senior class but not the band. Ice cream bar / froze fruit bar sales were not approved by Mr. Daquilante. Spaghetti Dinner was discussed and a motion was made by Amy Shreves to adopt the plan. The motion was seconded by Carolyn Greenlief and carried. Dinner to be held Sunday April 22 fom 12:30 – 3:00 in the GCHS Commons, pending approval. We will make sauce at home and have it in crock pots. Noodles to be cooked outside on propane/camp stoves. Dinner to include spaghetti, sauce, bread, salad & dressing, beverage, and dessert. Bread may come from someone Amy Shreves knows. leslie Ward to do shopping at Sam's Wholesale. Amy Shreves will get announcements into the newspapers and Anita Metz will create flyers to distribute around town. Tickets will be on sale Thursday April 5th through Wednesday April 18th (this includes Spring Break). Cost is $5.00 per ticket. Old Business Uniforms – have been donted to us by Liberty High School. Carolyn Greenlief moved that we purchase a plaque of appreciation valued at up to $50 and present it to their band. Motion seconded by Anita Metz and carried. Bingo Letter – was printed, signed by the officers and Mr. Lopez, and mailed by Leslie Ward. WV Folk Festival – Cindy Pounds attended the meeting and got the paperwork for us to sell ice cream at the folks festival. Cindy was unable to attend the band meeting. Leslie Ward will contact her about getting the paperwork filled out and submitted on time. Overnight trip has proved to be more than we are ready to handle (finances, time, chaperones, transportaton..). A day trip to the college will be undertaken instead. New Business Field trip to see the Percussion Ensemble at GSC will be on the 27th or 28th of March during the day. Permission slips will be going home soon. April Ratings will be on Thursday March 29th in Parkersburg at Blennerhasset Junior High. This event will occur during school so only select members of the band will be participating. All 9-12th graders and about half of the younger students will go, depending on audition results. Anita Metz will be going. Carolyn Greenlief will probably go as well. Other chaperones are welcome. Concerts will be given the week of May 9th School Performance to be given in the daytime; performance for the public will be at 7:00 p.m. Dates to be announced. Five ensembles are expected to perform: Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Choir, Big Band, and a combination of all groups. Amy Shreves moved that we have a 50/50 drawing instead of asking for donations. Olivia Shreves seconded and the motion carried. Anita Metz has a bucket and Mr. Lopez already has tickets. Leslie Ward and Anita Metz volunteered to hold the bucket at the concert. Graduation will be May 28th and the band will be playing Pomp and Circumstance. Time to be determined. Meeting was adjourned, with Carolyn Greenlief making the motion and Trisha Metz seconding.
